Scott Pye to leave team 18 at the end of the season

Team 18 has officially announced that Scott Pye will be parting ways with the team at the conclusion of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, marking the end of a four-year collaboration.

Joining Team 18 as it expanded to a two-car setup in 2020, Pye's first campaign with the squad yielded three podium finishes, with his first Darwin podium being a milestone for Team 18 as an independent entity.

Pye, 33, is currently positioned 13th in the championship standings after eight rounds in 2023, while his teammate, Mark Winterbottom, holds the 11th spot. Their performance has showcased a balanced rivalry within Team 18, with Winterbottom achieving the team's first win in Darwin earlier this year.

The announcement adds to a series of major revelations for the 2024 season, including Penrite Racing confirming David Reynolds' departure and Walkinshaw Andretti United announcing Nick Percat's exit, leaving room for significant changes in the driver lineup for the upcoming season.

As Team 18 anticipates its 2024 driver lineup announcements, Scott Pye's departure marks a significant shift for the team. Pye, who has been a full-time driver since 2013, expressed gratitude for the shared experiences and support he received from the team and his fans, looking forward to new opportunities in the sport.

Team owner Charlie Schwerkolt commended Pye's contributions to the team's growth and success over the past four years, acknowledging his pivotal role in delivering standout performances and podiums. Schwerkolt thanked Pye for his professionalism and dedication and wished him the best in his future racing endeavors.

While Pye prepares for a new chapter in his career, Team 18 remains focused on delivering strong performances in the remaining four rounds of the championship and the upcoming endurance races, aiming to maintain their momentum on the track. The ongoing driver market shakeup promises an exciting and transformative outlook for the Supercars landscape in 2024 and beyond.
