Brodie Kostecki will not return to Erebus for 2024

In a shocking turn of events, the Erebus Motorsport team is facing the prospect of the newly crowned Supercars champion, Brodie Kostecki, sitting out the entire 2024 season following a split with the team on the brink of the new racing year. Kostecki, who clinched his first championship title after a fierce battle with Shane van Gisbergen last season, is reportedly at odds with team management, signaling a tumultuous period for the once triumphant partnership.

The departure of Will Brown from Erebus at the end of the previous season to join Triple Eight has left the team grappling with the potential of entering the upcoming season with two new drivers: Jack Le Brocq, who inked a deal with the team last summer, and potentially Todd Hazelwood. This sudden upheaval within Erebus comes amidst longstanding tensions, with reports surfacing of a significant falling-out between Kostecki and the squad on the eve of the Tailem Bend round last August, ironically coinciding with Kostecki's stellar performance, clinching victory in all three races at the South Australian track.

While Kostecki is purportedly under contract with Erebus for the remainder of the 2024 season, his departure would likely preclude him from joining another team, effectively sidelining him from participation, including as a co-driver, in the series' prestigious endurance events such as the Sandown 500 and the Bathurst 1000. However, rumors abound regarding Kostecki's potential transition to NASCAR, a realm he has already dabbled in, notably competing in a Cup race with Richard Childress Racing at the Indianapolis RC in August 2023.

Richard Childress, the esteemed owner of Richard Childress Racing, has not only forged ties with Kostecki but has also shown a keen interest in the Erebus team, fueling speculation of a joint venture that could pave the way for Kostecki's foray into NASCAR. With strong backing from Australian businessman Peter Adderton's MobileX brand, which sponsored Kostecki's NASCAR debut, the prospect of a full-time switch to NASCAR racing appears increasingly viable, especially given MobileX's burgeoning growth through strategic partnerships with retail giant Walmart.

As the motorsport world braces for the outcome of this seismic shift, all eyes remain fixed on the future trajectory of Brodie Kostecki and the Erebus Motorsport team.
