Tim Slade to join TCR field for Queensland Raceway

Tim Slade is set to step in for Tom Oliphant in the Ashley Seward Motorsport Autoglym Lynk & Co for the fourth round of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia at Queensland Raceway. Oliphant, who secured his maiden TCR Australia victory at Winton Raceway, will be absent from the upcoming round as he ties the knot with his fiancée in England. This offers Slade an opportunity to make his debut with ASM, a team he first tested for in 2020.

The highly anticipated return of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR to the field adds to the excitement, following its debut at Phillip Island. As the sole chassis of its kind from the Chinese-Swedish brand in Australia, it has demonstrated its prowess in global TCR competitions. Slade's recent test day at Queensland Raceway left him impressed with the vehicle's performance.

Slade's initial foray into TCR Australia was during last year's April event at Mount Panorama, where the Supercars Championship star showcased his skills by qualifying an impressive fifth and finishing sixth in his debut TCR outing.

Reflecting on his upcoming opportunity, Slade expressed his enthusiasm for working with Ashley Seward and the Lynk & Co car, which he believes is the most enjoyable TCR vehicle he has driven due to its close resemblance to a standard rear-wheel-drive car.

Slade remarked, "With Supercars running 12 rounds and only two or three test days, it's beneficial to find seat time in other categories, and I enjoyed the TCR competition last year; it's good, hard, and close racing." He also expressed gratitude to Tom Oliphant, Ashley Seward, and the team for granting him the chance to drive, emphasizing their commitment to extracting the best performance and results.

Slade's participation in the upcoming round adds an exciting element to the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia series, allowing fans to witness his skill and experience in a different racing category while Tom Oliphant takes a break to celebrate his wedding.
