Richie Stanaway gets his Supercars career saved by PremiAir Racing

PremiAir Nulon Racing has made a significant move by signing Richie Stanaway for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship. The New Zealand driver will replace Tim Slade, who recently announced his retirement from full-time racing after a notable career in the Supercars series.

Stanaway’s 2025 prospects initially appeared uncertain when Penrite Racing confirmed he wouldn't return next season, opting instead for Super2 champion Kai Allen. However, the driver market took an unexpected turn when Brodie Kostecki signed with Dick Johnson Racing, leading to an opportunity for Stanaway at PremiAir Nulon Racing.

This will mark Stanaway’s fourth full-time team, having previously raced for Tickford Racing, Garry Rogers Motorsport, and Grove Racing. Notably, he will return to a familiar setup at Triple Eight, the powerhouse team he partnered with during his victorious 2023 Bathurst 1000 campaign. The Bathurst triumph, along with his 2017 Sandown 500 win, highlights Stanaway’s immense talent and resilience.

Speaking about his new deal, Stanaway expressed his enthusiasm. "I could not be more excited about this opportunity to join PremiAir Nulon Racing. I'm looking forward to reuniting with Jimmy Golding and seeing what we can accomplish together." Stanaway and Golding previously raced as teammates in 2019 with Garry Rogers Motorsport, and Golding currently sits fifth in the championship standings.

Team owner Peter Xiberras welcomed Stanaway’s arrival and acknowledged the talent he brings to the squad. "There is no doubting Richie’s ability—he’s proven himself time and again, especially with his Bathurst 1000 win," Xiberras said. "We are thrilled to have Richie join us and look forward to building a successful future with him and Jimmy."

As PremiAir Nulon Racing looks ahead to a new chapter with Stanaway, the team also remains committed to sending Tim Slade off on a high note, ensuring a memorable close to his Supercars career.
