Jaxon Evans will drive for BJR for 2024

Brad Jones Racing (BJR) has made a significant move for the 2024 Supercars season by signing New Zealand's international racing star, Jaxon Evans. This decision marks a pivotal change for the team as Evans steps in to replace Jack Smith in the SCT Motorsport Camaro.

At 27, Evans brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Supercars grid. His journey in motorsport is marked by notable successes, including his victory in the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. This triumph paved the way for Evans to become a Porsche junior in 2019, subsequently leading him to European circuits where he showcased his skills in prestigious events like the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup France and Deutschland.

Evans' resume is decorated with significant achievements, including a World Endurance Championship podium debut with Dempsey-Proton Racing in Bahrain and a commendable performance at the 2020 Bathurst 12 Hour race. His prowess continued as he secured a top-five finish in his class at the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans and clinched victory at the inaugural Nürburgring 12 hour race in 2022.

The New Zealand racer's connection with Supercars isn't new; he has previously teamed up with Jack Smith in the 2022 and 2023 enduros. Evans' participation in the 2023 season was especially noteworthy, with impressive performances like his remarkable drive from 22nd to 14th place in the Penrite Oil Sandown 500's opening stint and significant gains in the initial stint at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

Evans expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Supercars full time, highlighting the allure of the series' intense and close racing format. He acknowledged the shift in his racing environment but expressed confidence in adapting to the new challenges. Evans also conveyed his gratitude to SCT logistics, the Smith family, and Andrew Jones for their faith in his abilities.

The Kiwi racer's move to Australia for the 2024 season is indicative of his commitment to the Supercars campaign, balancing it with other racing commitments. Evans' addition to BJR and his participation in the upcoming pre-season test at Winton Motor Raceway on February 7 is highly anticipated.

The 2024 Supercars grid will feature a strong Kiwi presence, with Evans joining fellow New Zealanders Andre Heimgartner, Matt Payne, Richie Stanaway, and rookie Ryan Wood, enhancing the competition's international appeal.
