Gresini has signed Fermin Aldeguer for 2025

Gresini Ducati Completes 2025 MotoGP Line-Up with Aldeguer

Gresini Ducati has officially confirmed that Moto2 frontrunner Fermin Aldeguer will join its MotoGP squad in 2025, partnering with Alex Marquez. The announcement was largely expected, as Gresini was the only remaining team in Ducati’s stable with an open seat for the upcoming season.

Aldeguer’s promotion to MotoGP was sealed earlier this year, with Ducati committed to finding the right team for the talented 19-year-old Spaniard to step up to the premier class. Initially, Ducati considered placing him at Pramac Racing, which has traditionally served as a proving ground for many of its rising stars. However, Pramac’s unexpected switch to Yamaha forced Ducati to reassess its options. With VR46 opting to sign Franco Morbidelli from Pramac, Gresini emerged as the final destination for Aldeguer.

The signing was formally announced on Wednesday ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix. Aldeguer, who is in his third full season in Moto2, currently sits fifth in the standings, having already secured wins at Jerez and Sachsenring. His promotion to MotoGP follows an impressive end to the 2023 season, where he won four consecutive races from Thailand to Valencia, ultimately finishing third in the championship.

In 2025, Aldeguer will debut on a year-old GP24 bike, the same model that his future teammate, Alex Marquez, will ride next season. Aldeguer’s move is part of a broader reshuffle within the Ducati ranks, as Marc Marquez, who currently races for Gresini, is set to join the factory Ducati team in 2024, partnering with reigning two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia.

Aldeguer’s arrival at Gresini underscores Ducati’s long-term investment in nurturing young talent. With his aggressive riding style and rapid progression through the ranks, he is seen as a promising addition to the grid. Team Principal Nadia Padovani expressed excitement about Aldeguer joining the team, stating, “Fermin has shown exceptional talent and maturity in Moto2, and we believe he is ready to make the leap to MotoGP. We are excited to see what he can achieve alongside Alex Marquez.”

This move marks a significant opportunity for Aldeguer, who will be eager to prove himself among the sport’s elite. With Ducati’s continued commitment to developing young riders, his journey from Moto2 success to MotoGP contention will be closely watched by fans and teams alike. As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Gresini to see how this youthful lineup will perform on the world’s biggest stage.
