Formula One's legendary technical mastermind, Adrian Newey, will depart Red Bull Racing in early 2025, marking the end of a nearly two-decade reign that transformed the team from upstarts to champions. Newey, 65, was a key player in securing 13 championships for Red Bull, establishing an indelible legacy on the sport.

While his day-to-day Formula One design role ends immediately, Newey won't be entirely absent from the paddock. He will attend selected races in 2024 and dedicate much of his remaining time to the ambitious RB17 hypercar project.

"Formula One has always been my passion," reflected Newey. "It's been a remarkable journey with Red Bull Racing, and I feel it's the right moment to explore new challenges. I'll continue to focus on the RB17 development before handing over the reins."

Newey's early departure, originally slated for the end of 2025, comes amid rumors of a potential future move to rivals Ferrari. Industry insiders speculate that his decision to leave Red Bull was fueled by a desire to take on fresh challenges, likely with a different team.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner acknowledged Newey's immense contributions: "Adrian's brilliance is etched into our team's history. Our greatest moments are inseparable from his technical vision. His relentless drive has propelled us to levels few could have foreseen."

Newey's exit signals a major shift in the Formula One landscape. His unparalleled ability to exploit technical regulations and his unwavering pursuit of innovation earned him widespread respect and made him a highly sought-after figure in the sport. The team he leaves behind is well-positioned, but the loss of such a visionary will undoubtedly be felt as Red Bull enters a new era.
