2024 Repco Supercars Championship Grid Takes Shape with Will Brown's Triple Eight Move

As the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship heats up on the track, the off-track drama of the silly season continues to unfold, painting an intriguing picture for the 2024 season. The recent announcement of Will Brown formally replacing Shane van Gisbergen at Triple Eight Racing has provided a significant piece of the puzzle, shedding light on the evolving grid for the upcoming year.

The Triple Eight Racing news, unveiled on Tuesday, adds to the captivating narrative of the unpredictable silly season. With a number of driver contracts up for grabs, speculation has been rife about potential driver shuffles and new pairings across the Supercars grid.

Interestingly, despite the fierce competition and anticipation surrounding the 2023 championship, only two teams, Triple Eight Racing and Dick Johnson Racing, have confirmed their full line-ups for the 2024 season. Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison will continue to represent Dick Johnson Racing, while Triple Eight Racing's roster will include Will Brown and Broc Feeney, marking a slight adjustment to their line-up.

Will Brown's move to Triple Eight Racing creates a valuable opening at Erebus Motorsport, where he will join forces with current championship leader Brodie Kostecki. The speculation around potential replacements for Brown has been fervent, with drivers such as Jack Le Brocq, James Courtney, and Super2 rookie Cooper Murray being linked to the coveted seat.

Chaz Mostert and Andre Heimgartner are set to remain with Walkinshaw Andretti United and Brad Jones Racing respectively, while the line-ups of their teammates remain uncertain. The future of teams like Brad Jones Racing and Tickford Racing, the only four-car squads on the grid, remains to be solidified.

Cam Waters, initially a silly season wildcard, is now expected to continue with Tickford Racing. Mark Winterbottom, who secured a new deal with Team 18 last year, and Scott Pye, whose contract status is yet to be confirmed, also add intrigue to the evolving driver landscape.

David Reynolds, currently with Penrite Racing, could potentially make a move to the Mount Waverley team, altering the dynamics of the grid further. If Reynolds departs, a key spot at Penrite Racing would become available alongside Matt Payne.

The driver market ripple effect also extends to Nulon Racing, Matt Stone Racing, and the Blanchard Racing Team, with potential changes looming. MSR's Cameron Hill and Le Brocq achieved victory at Hidden Valley, and team owner Matt Stone is contemplating his options for the future.

BRT, which debuted as a one-car team in 2021, is considering expansion to a two-car model in 2024. Todd Hazelwood's contract status is uncertain, and as BRT envisions growth, the addition of Aaron Love, currently part of the Super2 roster, could bring a new dimension to the team.
